Helicopter Ride with Kate

“When you find yourself beginning to feel a bond between yourself and the people you photograph, when you laugh and cry with their laughter and tears, you will know you are on the right track.”
I can relate to this quote as I look through the photos I recently captured of a beautiful little girl, Kate, who is currently fighting brain cancer. I’m shaken with the beauty and strength of this little girl and her family. I met Kate and her family (who were here vacationing before jumping back into chemo ) when I was asked if I would volunteer my photography services to a local helicopter company that i’ve shot for before. And of course I said yes!

The Ride

The helicopter ride was fun… a few hiccups like a storm and some use of an ‘aloha’ bag by the kids but overall it wasn’t the scenery or being in a helicopter that stirred me, but the beauty and joy that resonated from the family. They are not defeated in the least bit and hold strong to their faith in God. You can learn their story at PRAY FOR KATE
“There are no words possible to describe how difficult this journey has been. Our hearts saddened to a point we didn’t know existed. And yet, we are fully prepared to walk this and fight with Kate every step of the way. We believe strongly in the power of prayer. We know none of this has caught our God off guard. And He is fully capable of healing our daughter.” ~ Kate’s parents

Pray for Kate

So I want to make this post about asking you join with me in praying for Kate. Here is what the family asks for in prayer…
  • Pray that God would deliver Kate from every cancer cell in her body.
  • Pray for the protection of her body as she undergoes extremely intensive chemotherapy treatments.
  • Pray that the tumor would disappear completely and pray for Kate’s sweet heart in this confusing time in her life.
  • Pray also for the Doctors treating Kate that they would have laser like understanding of how to treat this cancer.
  • Pray for us as a couple and that our marriage would be strengthened as we travel this long road with our daughter and family.
  • Pray for our family (Aaron, Holly, Olivia, Kate and Will) that God would hold us close through this season of trusting Him in new brand new ways.
  • Pray that as Kate’s story continues to travel, literally, across the world, it would be a story that points to hope.
